Pretty Little Liars episode 2.16, “Let the Water Hold Me Down,” featured a plethora of amazing tracks from various, talented artists. One of the songs though perfectly captured the pangs of Aria and Ezra’s bittersweet courtship. Which one? Jenny and Tyler’sAs Long as Our Hearts Are Beating” of course!

The soulful track is off this husband/wife acoustic duo’s Faint Not record, and is a wonderful testament to the their hopeful yet earnest sound! With their uplifting harmonies, they somehow managed to take a bleak, heartbreaking moment and infuse it with a lingering sense of love and comfort. In fact, we loved this Pretty Little Liars music moment so much that we wanted the full scoop on the artists who made it possible!

Check out our exclusive interview with Jenny and Tyler below!

PLL: What was your reaction upon finding out your song would be featured on Pretty Little Liars? Did you get a chance to watch the episode?
J&T: We were really excited to hear that our song would be featured on the show. We did get a chance to watch the episode. It was a little surreal to hear our music on national television.

PLL: How would you describe the vibe of your current album in three words?
J&T: The current album is a journey, an honest, passionate, journey.

PLL: What’s the toughest part of the song-writing process?
J&T: The goal in songwriting is to tell a story or communicate truth in a clear yet inspiring way. Crafting lyrics is probably the hardest part.

PLL: You moved to Nashville from Delaware a few years ago. Has your music been inspired by the change of scenery and how so?
J&T: Nashville is full of independent songwriters and musicians. It’s a huge change from Delaware where the artist community is pretty small. It’s really inspiring to just watch people be creative. Hearing our friends make music inspires us to write more.

PLL: Which lyrical moment from your album is your favorite and why?
J&T: The title track, “Faint Not,” includes the lyric, “Where there is hatred let me sow love; where there is injury let me pardon; where there is darkness let the light come…” The words are a reminder to love people, something we should be doing everyday.

PLL: Are there any up-and-coming artists or bands whose music you absolutely love?
J&T: We love our friends Carolina Story and Neulore. We’re also big fans of Levi Weaver.

PLL: It’s so sweet that you’re a husband and wife duo! Do you have a special song or one that you especially enjoy performing together?
J&T: We wrote a song together called One-Eyed Cat that is included in our second record. It’s about the things we gave up (specifically Jenny’s one-eyed cat — Tyler is allergic!) to be with each other, but more importantly the things we’ve gained. It’s a really playful song that we sing back and forth to each other. We joke that it’s like we’re renewing our wedding vows every time we sing it.

PLL: What advice do you have for aspiring singer songwriters?
J&T: Get out there and play as much as possible. Songs only get better with time so write as much as you can too. You really have to take time to hone your craft. Work hard, but have a lot of fun with it too.
