Keeping secrets from your boyfriend or girlfriend can take a painful toll on any relationship, and this is exactly what Spencer Hastings is beginning to realize the more she tries to keep her sweetheart Toby Cavanaugh at arm’s length from all the “A” drama. And when she does tell him the truth, she asks him to lie about it to others…and by “others” we mean the Rosewood cops!
During Pretty Little Liars Season 3, Episode 7, Spencer bore witness to an alcohol-related accident in which a very drunk Jason DiLaurentis plowed his car into a parked vehicle. Well, instead of rushing him to the hospital or letting the cops take over, Spencer felt bad for her half-brother so she leaped out of her car, hopped into his, and sped them both away from the scene of the crime. However, Detective Wilden and his buds paid her a visit late at night and poor Toby, who happened to be waiting for her there, had no choice but to come to her rescue. Worst of all? This occurrence will ultimately snowball into more lies and affect Spoby’s dynamic as a couple. “You covered for him, I covered for you, and you left us both lying to the cops.” Damn! Those were harsh words but Toby needs to blunt with poor Spencer or else she’ll continue to spout more falsehoods in order to keep him safe. However, we’re very intrigued by what Toby said at the end — the part about finding out on his own. It’ll be interesting to see him in full-on sleuthing mode!
