During the 2013 TCA Winter Press Tour, Pretty Little Liars executive producers, Marlene King and Oliver Goldstick, dropped so many PLL spoilers throughout their panel that we’re plumb stuffed on all the delicious Rosewood fodder. However, there’s no such thing as too much of a good thing when it comes to our favorite show, and, if there’s one morsel from the event that made our stomachs growl for more, it was that the Season 3 finale is going pay homage to a classic Alfred Hitchock thriller. Can you guess what it is? North by Northwest!
Now, we know that the series is renowned for dropping breadcrumb clues throughout episodes, but this one is major! Why? Because the movie is a tale of mistaken identity, in which an innocent man is pursued across the United States by agents of a mysterious organization who want to stop his interference in their plans to smuggle out microfilm containing top government secrets. Moreover, they are investigating him and have created a fictitious agent named George Kaplan in hopes of luring him into the open.
To be honest, we don’t think the finale is going to mirror the movie exactly (it would get way too wild and espionage-driven) but certain keywords caught our rapt attention: “mistaken identity” (it’s been speculated that Alison DiLaurentis has one), “mysterious organization” (N.A.T club drama), “fictitious agent” (don’t mess with Vivian Darkbloom), and “secrets” (Rosewood is chock full of them).
Either way, it sounds like the Pretty Little Liars Season 3 finale is going to be one jaw-dropping, mind-blowing, shrill-scream-inducing event!
So tell us, gentle viewers: Could this be a hint toward the whole Ali D twin theory? Post your theories in the comments!
