The good news: Pretty Little Liars Season 5 is back in production and the cast and crew are already hard at work filming new drama-filled scenes for our entertainment. The bad news: We still have to wait until June 10, 2014 to tune in to the epic premiere. Luckily, ABC Family understands how hard it is to count down to a highly anticipated PLL event so the always-generous network has provided viewers with the first three episode titles.
Although they’re not mind-blowing spoilers by any means, episode names usually tease what chaos awaits the Liars. And with poor Ezra fighting for his life post gunshot wound, the Liars trapped in NYC, and Alison still on the lam as she tries to evade A and the authorities, you better believe something as small as a title can be quite revealing upon further inspection. So, if you’re not ready to find out, “x” right out of the page. If you are, then dive into the list below.
- PLL Season 5 Episode 1: “EscApe from New York”
- PLL Season 5 Episode 2: “Whirly Girlie“
- PLL Season 5 Episode 3: “Surfing the Aftershocks”
The premiere title pretty much gets right to the point. The Liars are trapped in the Big Apple and they need to find a way back home to Rosewood ASAP. As for “Whirly Girl,” it is interesting to note that it just so happens to be the name of a 2006 film that Julian Morris starred in, about an exotic dancer named Alice who hits up parties at all-male schools. She ends up bonding with a guy named James (Julian) after she steals his father’s watch and he tracks her down. Considering how Wren returns in PLL 5×02, we think this isn’t a coincidence at all and wouldn’t be surprised at all to learn that Alison wronged him and now he’s hunting her throughout the East Coast. (Don’t mind us, though; we tend to jump to conclusions.)
And in terms of episode 5×03? Well that one is a toughie. The word “surfing” could be an indirect clue to the whole “board shorts” conundrum as well as what happened the summer Alison vacationed in Cape May with CeCe Drake. Aftershocks are what occur right after huge earthquakes — hopefully the title is not referring to a literal one because that’s the last thing these poor girls need! We have a feeling though it might be a clue to describe the state of affairs in Rosewood after Alison springs out with a “Ta da! I’m still here and fabulous so bow down!” (That’s how we envision the scenario at least.)
What do you think the title of the first 3 titles for Season 5? What do you think each refers to? Sound off in the comments, and be sure to catch the Pretty Little Liars Season 5 premiere on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
