When ABC Family announced that Tyler Blackburn would be joining the Pretty Little Liars spin-off Ravenswood, fans freaked out. Many were excited for more screen time with brooding hottie and others were worried about Hanna and Caleb’s romantic status. However, the biggest question that crossed everyone’s mind was: Why was the poor guy being transferred to Ravenswood, a town so spooky it makes Rosewood look like a happy-go-lucky playground?
Well, PLL executive producer Marlene King, who is also overseeing spin-off, had some juicy answers pertaining to Caleb’s big move. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, she explained that Caleb’s main reason for leaving Rosewood is to learn more about his lineage and to make sense of his tumultuous childhood. As we all know too well, Caleb is an orphan who has survived many terrible situations, including neglect, abandonment, and an abusive foster care situation. Thus, it made the most sense for his character to be uprooted and sent off to explore his mysterious past.
Although Caleb won’t be bouncing any time soon, Ravenswood will be introduced in PLL episode 4.07 when Toby (Keegan Allen) and Spencer (Troian Bellisario) follow a clue that leads them to “Creepytown.” Ravenswood, which also stars Brett Dier, Elizabeth Whitson, Nicole Gale Anderson, Britne Oldford and Merritt Patterson, will debut following the Pretty Little Liars Season 4 Halloween special. It centers around five strangers who are connected by fatal curse and have to dig into the town’s terrifying history before it’s too late for all of them.
What are your expectations for Ravenswood, lovelies? Which other Rosewood resident do you hope joins Caleb?
