Why We Like Maya St. Germain

As season 2 of Pretty Little Liars approaches, we’re taking a look back at all the relationships that rocked our world in season 1.

Emily Fields has had a string of romantic interests, and one of our favorites is her first official gf, Maya (The Vampire Diaries witch, Bianca Lawson).

5 Reasons Why We Like Maya St. Germain:

  1. She’s patient with Emily and even gave her space to come to terms with her sexuality.
  2. She can carry a conversation or be a good listener (and we all know Emily a lot of drama to talk through).
  3. She goes out of her way to show Emily she cares (i.e. showing up at the homecoming dance in ep.106 even though she doesn’t like dances).
  4. She cracks good jokes. (Remember that one about Snooki in the photo booth scene?)
  5. She’s just mysterious enough to keep us guessing–in fact, some fans suspect she may be A.

    I love Maya, I think she helped Emily though the rough times. OMG, I love the Vampire Diaries and NEVER noticed she plays Emily on there! Cool! :) Irony, she plays Emily on TVD and dated Emily on PLL! Weird…

  17. Does anyone not care that this is just wrong. Men have a penis and women a vagina for a reason. They were created that way for a reason. ABC is trying to shove the gay lifestyle down everyones throats. Almost every ABC show has a gay or lesbian couple in it. Trust me they are doing it on purpose so you and I will get numb to the subject and then just except it. Don’t watch any ABC programming. Disney should be banned too. They are all part of the same corporation.

ABC Family have gay people on shows for many reasons. 1 is because people in real life are gay,, and they are trying to be realistic. 2 is to show that they are not discriminating against gay people, 3 is because gay people need someone to realate to ona show too. And I could be here all day with more reasons. Not to mention the fact that ABC isn’t telling anyone to be gay, or trying to change anyones minds about it. They are just listing what might be going on in a typical teenagers life. If they truly were trying to change opinions, Emily’s mom wouldn’t be a homophobic. We are all created equal, so what we like shouldn’t change anyones opinion. Emily likes girls, how does that effect YOUR life?

  39. Emily & Maya are two beautiful young women of color (one Asian and one Black) who bought out the best in the show. They looked perfect together, and were and are Soul Mates.

    Absolutely no one with a brain can understand why they would break up Emily and Maya right at the start of their relationship when everything was going so well. I too agree with other posts that I have seen saying that if Maya had been White, say Samara for instance, they would not have broken them up.

    If they broke them up just so that the producers and writers can have Emily be with a White girl, then that is very sick because everyone loves Emily and Maya.

    Aren’t the producers of the show smart enough to realize that a lot of fans, Gay, Lesbian, Bi, and Straight might like the show, but are mainly watching it because of Maya and Emily. They will find out that they will lose a large part of their audience if they do not bring Maya back with Emily. You can only say, “Keep the Faith” so many times before it is obvious that it is a lie.

    I saw Emily with Paige and Samara, and I can tell you that there is no sexual chemistry between Emily and Paige or Emily and Samara. On the other hand, the sexual chemistry between Emily and Maya is so obvious and out there that even Ray Charles can see it.

    Because A (Mona) was a letdown and I haven’t read Wicked, much less Wanted, I think the real A is much more close to Ali and her death. To be close to Ali or her death, you have to do more than live inside her house.

  41. listen, people like you shouldn’t even talk because you talk as if gay people are somehow different from you, or if they are more imperfect from you or they live completely different lives. ABC family gives their viewers variety. the network may be full of drama but that drama is natural reality. we do live in a world full of gay, bisexual, transgender, and straight human beings. & that’s just it, we are all human. this is where you are wrong about gay people. they are not different from you. they too, wake up every morning on a daily routine. they eat the same food as you, maybe not exactly that but we all live in the same world. gay people do the same things as you. they eat like you, they work like you, they open their hearts to love like you, but most of all, they breath the same air that you do. if you think there is something more imperfect about gay people than straight people, then you are completely wrong about the human race. i am not perfect; you my friend are certainly NOT perfect but by gay, bisexual, transgender & straight people being themselves, it means each of us are perfectly imperfect. but what is your real issue with gay people? is it the way they kiss? the way they hold hands? the way they love each other? because im pretty sure straight people do the same things. so maybe your real issue is with yourself. & you’re not very smart & clearly completely biased if you have only watched pretty little liars. the lying game, switched at birth, jane by design….wait though, there arent any gay couples in those shows. so you are not able to sit there & say that “ABC Family is trying to push gay people onto the viewers to try & make them accept homosexuality.” & if your so called opinion is based on a religious point of view, “all gays should be put to death…” now where have i heard that before? the bible may say death is an option, but wait though, gay people are still alive. hmm so that cant be your reason for your assinnine opinion. point is, Emily & Maya are happy. noone is making you accept them…you do realize its a show right? is it so impossible for you to realize that not everyone likes the same things you like? is it so hard for you to understand that not everyone gets a rise out of the opposite sex? but it doesnt matter.as long as people are happy with their signifant other, you shouldnt have an issue. ABC is not saying “you have to be gay,” but it does relate to teens out there who are gay & for those who struggle coming out because they have a fear that they will be teased & disowned by people like you who are so judgemental. it may be television but lemme tell you something, how much more real can ABC get by showing you all the issues that kids & teens face everyday. so maybe next time you want to state your opinion about things like that over the internet, think before you speak. im not saying you cant have an opinion, but if you have an issue, dont post it where it can cause chaos. whether you want to accept it or not, there are gay people, there are straight people, but we are all people. dont judge a book by its cover because you never know about the stories inside.
